A <a href="http://www.andrewconnell.com/blog/archive/2010/03/27/introducing-the-sharepoint-sITe-collection-keep-alive-job.aspx”>few months back I blogged about a free utilITy available for download on the <a href="http://www.crITicalpathtraining.com”>CrITical Path Training sITe called the SharePoint SITe Collection Keep Alive UtilITy. What is IT? I quote from that post:
I’ve created a utilITy that at scheduled intervals will issue an HTTP/HTTPS request to a specified sITe collection’s homepage, key galleries and key admin pages. This way while presenting, demoing or teaching, you can ensure that the most common pages in your sITes are being warmed up and kept alive so when you go to do your demo IT’s nice and quick.
Today I’ve updated the utilITy to v1.1. I’ve noticed IT wasn’t working under some condITions and IT was hard to troubleshoot what the problem was. The issue is now fixed and IT’s now working all the time.
I also added some custom logging so you’ll see the status and errors in the ULS and event log:

I’ve also updated the installer so when you run the installer batch file, IT will retract and remove any previously deployed versions of the solution and redeploy IT. No worries about losing you settings… they are persisted in the farm’s configuration database. The new version of the utilITy uses the same settings.
